SERIOUSLY. And I’m not talking about the cartoon right now (which everyone knows has BEEN awesome). I’m talking about the new movie by the Wachcowski’s of The Matrix fame. Ever since I saw the 1st preview, I was determined to see this movie. A LOT of people tried to discourage me from going, but I still went and saw it. In IMAX no less. The verdict? INSANELY awesome.

Now, I’m sure there might be a few of you out there whose face might look a lot like Mr. Hirsch’s there, you know, kinda shocked. My girlfriend, who I had to drag kicking and screaming with me, looked kinda like that when she discovered she was actually enjoying the movie. I was lost in it.

It is the F-Zero movie that will never be made. The colors are so bright and vivid that they sear your retinas. Everyone was thoughtfully casted…no one seemed not to ‘fit’. That layering technique Mike touched upon is extremely striking and truly blurs the line between live action and anime. I’m convinced that the critics who reviewed this flick are not video game or anime fans at ALL.

A common complaint was that it was all green screen, and that the actors aren’t really driving. Ok, and in the original cartoon, the cartoons were really driving, right? Get real, you fucks. IT IS BASED ON A CARTOON. The goal WAS to make it’s world as surreal as possible, short of having CG actors, and the result must be seen to be believed. If you are anything like us here at TheFour11, and enjoy videogames and anime on a regular to borderline unhealthy basis, RUN, do not walk to your nearest IMAX and watch this movie. YOU. WILL. LOVE. IT.

Matter of fact, this would be the best weekend to catch it, as Indy 4 hits next week. I mean, you REALLY weren’t planning to watch Prince Caspian….were you?
