Why is everyone hating on Star Wars: The Clone Wars?
So yeah, some of you may or may not have heard about the new star wars film thats coming out this year.
It’s going to be full CGI, its going to take place between Epsiode II and III and its going to segue into a series on Cartoon Network…
You know what, thats not a good place to start, lets back track a tiny bit so you can see where I’m coming from.
Back in 2005, before Revenge of the sith hit theaters, Lucasfilm got together with Cartoon Network and Genndy Tarkovsky (yeah, the dude who made Samurai Jack) and put together a Star Wars animated series that chronicled the time spent between Episode II and III. It was really cool. It was full of expanded universe back story. It was received well by the fans. Everyones biggest Complaint though was that it wasn’t long enough and they wanted more (I was definitely in that group of people. In fact I have both seasons on my Zune).
So 2008 rolls around and Lucasfilm decides they want to revisit what they created with the Clone Wars micro series and make it an official series. It will now be full CGI, animated jointly by ILM and the guys that do Storm Hawks and based fully off the art of the cartoon. It will even debut with a full theatrical movie release! See anything wrong with that? Well, apparently the internet did.
Message boards and forums went ablaze with all the naying and braying of farm yard animals, angry about this and angry about that.
“Star wars is turning into a kids show!”
“Episode I, II and III sucked! wheres Han Solo?!”
“It’s fully CGI?! This is retarded!”
Yeah….That kind of stuff. My opinion couldn’t have been further from pure, belated excitement! I mean, as far as Star Wars goes, spin off’s are rarely ever good in anything other than book form, yet the Clone Wars cartoon was definitely enjoyed by even the most die hard of Star Wars diehard. So why the fanboy lash-out at something so awesome? The world may never know!
In nothing else, you should make your own decision and you should all check out the info that they have online and get as excited as I am.
You can also check out the webumentary they’re putting together for it here.
My Name is Mike Steele and I’m a Star Wars fanboy…and you should be too!

Oh poor Mike. Will you never learn? Star Wars sucks now, wait thats not the best way to start… okay here we go. I love Star Wars, but I hate everything about it. Does that make sense? I think that for a huge fan like me the only things that I will ever like are the things they would never dare to make because no one would watch/play/drink them. I would love a Star Wars movie based on some smuggler that gets caught and has to figure out how to escape a spice mine on Kessel or something but they will never make that. They will only make horrible movies that introduce Gungans or chronicle the adventures of the Ewoks (it happened, we both watched it, and it sucked). Star Wars is no longer the great sci-fi saga it was when we were growing up. Lets just hope that The Force Unleashed is cool and not just some cross between Star Wars and Jet Li some how.

Oh and I just realized that my idea for a star wars movie would be better if the smuggler had a friend who was a smart mouthed Rodian. Oh the misadventures they would have…

Here’s why I already hate the new Clone Wars shows: because it takes place place during the worst era of the expanded universe. I mean, nothing cool has come out of this era, yet the folks at Lucas keep trying to milk more and more money out of it.
And now, they don’t need to make a movie about a fucking smuggler on Kessel. God, spragels, reading your comment made me take a sip of my beer just so that I could get the bad taste out of my mouth. Star Wars doesn’t suck. The fans have made Star Wars into something more than Lucas could have ever imagined.
What they need to do is make a show that takes place during the Old Republic era. Why? Because all the best stuff comes from that era. Have you read Drew Karpyshyn’s Darth Bane novels? God, if they made those novels into a movie or a show, you’d have fans milking their pockets at Lucas’ front door.
Episodes 1 - 3 is a wound in the Force, so to speak.

I liked the animated series that was out sveral years ago, so I’m gonna give it a chance.

This whole new star wars “movie” is absolute garbage, entertaining the idea that the council would give two shits about Jabbas son is something i will not do. Not to mention that Samurai Jack is one of the best looking cartoons every, and storm riders is not. The whole clone wars era is just, bleh. There are worst periods in Star wars lore, but its certainly not the best. Its gonna suck.
Btw, I love Star Wars, dont mock what i care about by calling yourself a Star Wars fanboy.
But if I had to sum up what i think about the new clone wars movie…
Ive got a bad feeling about this.

Um hey douche bag. Don’t mock the writers by saying mean stuff to them.
kthnx.

I guess things get misconstrued when it’s typed… I’m not mocking the writer of this post (if that last comment was directed towards me). The writer is a good friend of mine and almost my entire post was a joke to try and start some conversation about Star Wars. How could I be serious about a movie where a guy has to break out of a spice mine on Kessel and has a smart mouthed rodian as a partner? It was a joke. Lighten up people, and to Tenn Graneet who said “And now, they don’t need to make a movie about a fucking smuggler on Kessel. God, spragels, reading your comment made me take a sip of my beer just so that I could get the bad taste out of my mouth.” I am sorry that my post drove you back to the bottle.

No it wasn’t towards you man.
It was toward that douche bag xthrowxsomexD’sx .
Sorry for the mix up. :]

@Spragels
Yeah, sorry that your post made go back to the beer I was already drinking… I guess. Anyways, glad you were kidding.
@Nope
So you think every poster here should be 100% in agreance with the writers? Don’t you think the writers here expect, if not want, negative feedback from time to time? Stop being a sissy, Hitler.

I think Mike steele is a big boy, i doubt he’s losing any sleep over my 2 cents. So unless “Nope” is actually Steele’s mom, I offer no apology.

If you can’t insult strangers on the internet that don’t agree with you, what CAN you do?!
I’ll live.
May 8, 2008 at 5:00 pm
Uuum actually I never said that they had to agree with everything he was saying.
But it isn’t cool to bash someone on their work.
It’s basically telling that person that their own opinion is wrong.
Stop defending your little boyfriend.
May 8, 2008 at 5:23 pm
Well I’m excited for it.
o.o;;

Cracks House…
I can not agree with you in 100% regarding some thoughts, but you got good point of view…
