Exclusive interview: Q&A with Jeff Nimoy!

wolfwood nimoyHello there kittens! Erinchu here with my first Exclusive interview with none other than the incredibly talented Jeff Nimoy!

You may be most familiar with this mans voice work on Trigun as Nicholas D. Wolfwood. He was also the Director for the first 26 episodes of Naruto and pretty much all of Digimon.

I got a chance to sit down and ask him some questions about past work and the new stuff he has planned for us! So here we go, I hope you guys enjoy it.

Erinchu: So Jeff the fans were wondering if you were getting ready to start or are in the process of working on anything new and if you could talk about it.

Jeff: I’m in the last days of Digimon here, and then I’m devoting myself full time to “Adventures In Anime,” Quinton Flynn and my new web series

Erinchu: Alright, what fun and interesting things can you tell me about the website you and Quinton (Flynn) are starting up?

Jeff: The completely free website is the home for our new “Docu-comedy” web series called “Adventures In Anime,” and of course the web address is AdventuresInAnime.com(site not yet functional as of now), but you’ll be able to see the show everywhere video is available on the net.

But there will be other things as well. Exclusive photos, songs sung by us, personal blogs, forums where you can directly ask us questions, fan contests, and people will be able to purchase merchandise like T-Shirts, coffee mugs, posters, special bonus feature DVD’s of “Adventures In Anime,” and all things related to Quinton Flynn and Jeff Nimoy!

Erinchu: What can viewers expect to watch? How long would each episode be?

Jeff: “Adventures In Anime” shows the behind the scenes footage of Quinton Flynn and myself and everything we go through when we attend a con. We have special guest appearances by other voice actors like Johnny Young Bosh, and Stephanie Sheh, and other recognizable actors as well, in improvised comedy scenarios (sort of like in the style of “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” the Larry David HBO show). Viewers can see a new webisode about once a month, depending on how much free time I have to pump the webisodes out. Each webisode will be anywhere from 5 to 8 minutes long, and each volume might have two or three chapters each. For instance, Volume 1 takes place at AnimeFest in Dallas, Texas, where we kicked off our 2008 world tour. I know there will be at least two webisodes about the Dallas trip, maybe even three. Then it’s on to Volume 2, Youmacon in Detroit, and so on. We’re premiering the first webisode at ACEN in Chicago, the weekend of May 16th, and then it will be up and running for all to see after that. Both Quinton and I are very excited and can’t wait for the fans’ reaction!

Erinchu: That all sounds really awesome! I’m excited already. How often can we expect guest appearances?

Jeff:I would say there’s a guest star at least every other episode, some you’ve heard of and seen on TV, and others you haven’t, but all will be talented and funny.

Erinchu: What was your favorite VA job and Why?

Jeff: I would have to say “Wolfwood” from Trigun. He had more layers than all the other characters I’ve played combined.

Erinchu: So after finishing with Digimon is that it for you? Is it just going to be all about Adventures in Anime?

Jeff: Well, there’s a little show called Sgt. Frog (it’s huge in Japan) that I might be writing for when and if it comes to the US, but it’s nothing definite, and even if it gets picked up here in the states, there’s no guarantee I’ll be working on it, but I think there’s a good possibility (how’s that for a “definite maybe?”). But until then I am going to be concentrating on “Adventures in Anime.”

Erinchu: Well, that’s all of your time that I’m going to take up! Thank you so much for sharing all of that with us.

Jeff: Just ask if there’s anything else. I’m happy to help.
-Jeff

I think the idea behind “Adventures in Anime” is really great. It’ll be like giving us fans a taste of what it’s like to be a voice actor. I can’t wait to see the episodes. It’s the con experience without even attending the con!

I would really like to thank Mr. Nimoy for taking time out of his schedule to talk with me. He was a sweetheart to interview. I’ll be posting links to the new videos of Adventures in Anime as they come out. Be sure to check back for those!

Until then Kittens, live long and prosper!

-Erinchu wolfwood.
