hancock poasterI’m digging the “lets pretend movies are real” thing that has gotten into movie advertisers over the last couple years and it looks like the movie “Hancock” is following that trend.

The movie features Will Smith as an alcoholic, down and out anti-hero that, try as he may, tends to cause just as much damage as he prevents and earns the public’s anger in the process, until Jason Bateman’s character, a Publicist trying to revive Hancock’s image, approaches him with the concept of winning back the cities’ affection.

With those themes in mind, the website www.hancockwashere.com uses the premise that users can upload there video’s they happen to catch of Hancock in action.

They use the style of special effects you saw in alot of the Ratchet and Clank commercials a few months ago, where it looks “real” or from a handycam perspective.

The movie is set to come out July 2nd and you can check out the trailer HERE.

I for one think it looks good, and not just because of my man crush on Jason Bateman.

I agree about it having a fresh, different look in the trailer but I find that it is easier to pull off with a short trailer and the effect can be lost in an actual film. However that being said, I am going to see this because of that last trailer.
