Mortal Kombat Vs DC Universe. Thefour11’s take.

Oooh. Coming spelled with a “K”, Midway means business.

With midway gamers day pretty much wrapping up, the hot ticket to write about has been Mortal Kombat VS DC. The new fighting game from the Midway team. Who’s excited? Anyone? –From the lack of hands I guess nobody. So how exactly are Mortal Kombat and DC universe supposed to meet? Well Midway’s official press release simply states:

“When a cataclysmic force merges conquerors from two universes, conflict is inevitable. Kombat forces friends to fight, worlds to collide, and unlikely alliances to be forged. In order to save all they know, the heroes and villains of Mortal Kombat must wage war against the combined might of the DC Universe. How can either side prevail when rage blinds them to the dark threat poised to destroy them all?”

–Right.

The game features a new fighting engine that gives players things like “Freefall Kombat” and “Klose Kombat.” (The spell check is on the fritz right now! “z0mg Combat, with a K!”) Basically in “Freefall Kombat” the two players are sent spiraling downward, while attacking the other player. Freefall fights end when another player finishes the other one off. Confused? Just imagine really bad 80’s action movies, where they get thrown from a helicopter fighting. Except this time, in Unreal 3.0.

The other, “Klose Kombat” (oh Midway, you are so “Klever!”), zooms in on the the two characters duking it out. It allows each player to execute “sophisticated” grabs. Since when was sophistication involved with words like “Mortal” and “Kombat”? Never. However, with these awesome additions, there seems to be a prominent subtraction. I.E. Fatalities! However, there will be “Finishing Moves” but not nearly as graphic as the MK staple. Why? Simple: DC doesn’t want their precious superheroes to be ripped up, (and neither do we!) so the Midway “Krew” opted for a T rating.

Hmm, maybe there’ll be a blood Kode? For now, some screens.

Guess he shoulda rope a doped.

Guess he should’ve rope-a-doped.
